Nikhil Nelson – Founder/CEO, District Deejay, LLC
I am an 18-year DJ, artist, and consultant born and raised in DC. I earned money from summer jobs to buy equipment and have enjoyed entertaining at a variety of events – kids’ and adults’ birthday parties, the Adams Morgan Day Festival, pop-up markets, wedding receptions, local cafes, bars, and more. In addition, I deejay for musicians for their live sets at places like Adams Morgan Day, where I deejayed a set for Def Jam rapper Beau Young Prince.
I bring all the necessary equipment, including speakers, music, turntables, and all other accessories. I have a diverse knowledge of music and am able to customize music for your event and preferences. While I started out using mostly vinyl records, I now use a mix of vinyl and digital music, which allows me to play music from any genre, artist, or era. During my time in the music world, I have also been lucky enough to meet and learn from local and worldwide legends such as Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Lightshow, Reggie Reg, Big Daddy Kane, Master Gee, and others. Thank you for visiting my website, and please don’t forget to check out my upcoming events, and the artists I work with while you’re here!
I would love to thank DMV artists and natives Lightshow (@lightshow10thpl), Beau Young Prince (@beauyoungprince), Flex Mathews (@flexmathews), DJ Osiris (@dj.osiris) as well as Songbyrd Cafe, 86 America, Som Records, and Joint Custody Records for their continuous support.
